A new $50 million finance injection by Commonwealth Bank to South Australia’s largest community housing provider, Unity Housing, is being hailed as the largest such deal ever for community housing in the state and the start of a new scale model for social and affordable housing.
Published in the Australian Financial Review and The Adelaide Advertiser, the announcement comes following the signing of a deal the Commonwealth Bank and Unity Housing are hailing as a new era for community housing in SA.
This is positive news for more than 20,000 South Australians waiting for public housing and low-income households living in housing stress.
Unity Housing CEO Matthew Woodward says it is expected the cash injection will provide finance for “hundreds of new homes”.
